Yesterday morning started out lovely with our 18 month old telling me she didn't want to wear the shoes I'd picked out for her to wear. Granted, she still not "talking" but when I would put the shoes on her, she immediately started whining and pulled them off and tried to put another pair that she thought was more appropriate to her day. I finally just picked her up and put her little fanny in the car. I wasn't fighting that battle at that point.
I'd also made some birthday signs at work and taped them to the truck windows so when Graisi got off the school bus she would see them. Not to mentioned I got out of the truck and hollered, "Happy Birthday" at her as she got off :o) She told Martin that I embarrassed her, but when I asked her if she wanted me to do it next year, she said YES! She loved me making a fuss over her. What kid wouldn't? She wanted to go to Olive Garden for dinner so we went and got HORRIBLE service!!!! I normally am pretty patient with servers because I know how hard they work, but this was unbelievable. Needless to say we left with a $40 gift card that I accepted under duress. I actually asked the manager not to, but he all but shoved it in my hand. I have no desire to ever visit that location again. Maybe the one up the street at some point. We'll see... THEN after dinner the we went to Target for Graisi to buy her very own Apple iPod Shuffle. She bought it with her own money! After the trampoline expense, I explained that we couldn't afford to spend anymore money, to which she replied, "That's ok. I'll pay for it with my own money." Well, ok then. Spank my fanny and call me Mary. And she did. She was so excited when we got home, but it was too late to do anything with it, so my job this afternoon is to load songs onto it. FUN
Have I mentioned that I've become a sew-aholic? I have made Alli Claire two new reversible dresses complete with ruffled pants in the last two nights after they went to bed? Tonight is my night to make Graisi some pants. Alli Claire's little clothes are just so much easier to handle and make. I've been putting off making Graisi anything for that fact. However, if you do remember, I did finish her pillowcase dress Sunday afternoon. So it's not like I haven't made her anything... This is my attempt to make myself feel less guilty. It's not working. I'll start on Graisi's stuff tonight. I promise.
I also wanted to mention that Graisi's prayers have become increasingly more mature. Monday night she prayed that God would help her read and understand the Bible more and also help her follow the Ten Commandments. Last night because it was her birthday and insisted both Martin and I to tuck her into bed and say her prayers with her. Normally only one of us does it. It warms my heart to watch her grow and be tranformed into the child she is supposed to be :o) I am so blessed to be her mom! Thank you Jaime, Gary and Cherie (our friends and Graisi's Sunday School teachers) for helping us teach her and give her a solid foundation for her life. You too are a blessing to our family. We love you guys!

Graisi is a joy to teach. I have had the best time teaching all of our kids, it has been great to get to know each of them so well.
I can't wait to see what God has planned for that special girl...
"Spank my fanny and call me Mary."
That had me laughing so hard I was crying. I have NEVER heard that expression, not even from my mom, who I thought had the craziest ones I've ever heard.
LOL!! I made it up. It just sounded like something fun to say... Call it a Southern gift or what have you. I'm glad I could make you laugh!
