I've become "one of those" parents...

I've had to send a couple of emails to Graisi teacher. I've become that parent who thinks her child is smarter that the rest of the kids. Not really, but I'm sure that's what she thinks. I'm afraid if the teacher doesn't do something soon to keep Graisi's enthusiasm for school, we're going to lose her. I talked to the director of the gifted program this morning and she has given me some really good ideas to do at home, but that doesn't help during the day in the mundane routine of worksheets. Alabama law says they test in the 2nd grade which means they will not start the gifted classes until 3rd grade. I wouldn't think she was gifted other than the fact her 1st grade teacher was adamant that we should really concentrate on it. She said she showed many of the traits that gifted children have. Now I'm starting to see some of the behavioural problems I had while in elementary school from not being challenged and able to express my creative side. No comments necessary :o)

On another note, we are going to become part of the Girls Scouts of America :o) We went to an informational meeting last night and signed up. I did say "NO" when I was asked to become a troop leader. I'm learning to say that more often here lately. But this should be a great experience for us both. I was a Brownie when I was Graisi's age. I think she'll enjoy it like I did.
