Graisi came home Saturday from a week at Aunt Janet's house. She had so much fun and informed me that she didn't get out of her pj's two of the days she was there. She sooo needed that! She was very disappointed at the end of school when she said she was excited summer was here because that meant she could sleep as late as she wanted to all summer... Man did she get a rude awakening. I quickly informed her that she would only get to do this two weeks out of the whole summer.... the week I took off with her and the week she would be at Aunt Janet's.
She hasn't stopped talking about butterflies at Callaway Gardens since she got home. Now she's got Alli Claire talking about them. Janet if you're reading this, "Thank you for loving my girls and being a wonderful memory for them as they grow up! The summer vacations Graisi spends at your house will be remembered her whole life. What an awesome gift you've given her!" (I can't wait for our 2nd annual Six Flags trip!!!!)
Saturday while Martin and Alli Claire went to pick up Graisi, I stayed home and got ready for my Daddy's Father's Day supper. Martin grilled steaks and I made sour cream mashed potatoes (Yukon gold only) with cheddar cheese melted on top! Mmmmmm Good! Baked beans and homemade chocolate ice-cream!! (Did I mention Martin and Daddy's steak was a 2+lb cowboy steak that Martin had to cut in half to cook it?? It was ENORMOUS!) We also had homemade salsa as an appetizer. (Thank you Wendy!). I asked Daddy if he liked salsa and he said it was ok. Not his favorite thing and he'd only found one restaurant that was descent enough to eat. He made me a little nervous, but I brought mine out anyway... He ate two bowls and insisted he take some home :o) I couldn't help but laugh at him. It was so nice to have them at our house. They don't come down nearly enough so we enjoyed them being there for a few hours. Graisi and Alli Claire loved Mamaw Nancy being there because she played with them the whole time. She and Graisi had a boxing match in the livingroom with Alli Claire's Scooby Doo webble wobble thing. You know the tall balloon type thing that you punch down and it comes right back up? It became a little competitive and loud at one point. Alli Claire wouldn't let her Papaw out of her sight and went looking for him when he would disappear. It was precious! My Daddy has a special place in his heart for all of his girls! He does have two daughters and 5 granddaughters!
Martin's Father's Day started with a plethora of gifts... The complete Star Wars DVD set (all six),
a Keith Whitley CD, and hand painted ceramic ice-cream bowl that Graisi did for him during Spring Break, a picture frame she'd painted at Aunt Janet's and a hand print picture Alli Claire made for him. I think we did good :o) Then off to church, lunch, 2 hours swimming at the YMCA and a homemade spaghetti dinner at home that I cooked! Needless to say, we all slept well last night!
Today is Graisi's first day at the YMCA camp... I told Martin this morning I didn't know who was more nervous, me or Graisi. To which he quickly replied, "You". This is her first real day of "big camp". I don't know how they will take care of her or if she will be responsible for herself... So I had to make sure she was completely prepared to be ok until I got there this afternoon. I'm so not ready for this! This is my Baby Graisi getting ready for the big world.... it makes me sad. I know she isn't helpless, but she's timid in new surroundings (believe it or not!) and tends not to ask for help when she needs it because she becomes shy. I know tomorrow will be better, but today is miserable for me!

We all had such a great time! I think Callaway was my favorite as well. I know we will be going back soon. I am so glad that Maggie and Graisi have each other. These will be memories that we will all cherish in years to come. I made sure that Graisi took in everything little thing that Caroline did while she was here so that she would be fully prepared when Alli Claire does the same thing. I think the loudness and screaming took some getting used to for her. Caroline only has one volume, "extra loud"! Thanks for allowing Graisi to spend summers with us. I can't wait until a couple years down the road when Alli Claire can joing the gang. Can you imagine the trouble the four of them will get into? Whatever it is, it will be loads of fun.
