Urgent Prayers Needed Today!!!!

Two of our best friends received some pretty terrible news 11 days ago. Today is a really big day for them. Please say a prayer for Scott and Paula this morning that God will perform a HUGE miracle that can only be explained by His hand and that He will recieve the glory and recognition for it. Martin and I have both been pretty down since last Saturday, but we know the Lord is in control and Scott is being defended and protected as he endures this trial.

Catching My Breath

Whew... where do I start? We left for Gatlinburg last Saturday morning. Who knew it takes 5 hours to pack when you're only going to be gone for 3 days?? And extra special "Thank You" to our friends Tonya and Kevin who graciously offered her parents condo for us to stay with them. They were very hospitable, but I don't think we'll be invited back after "Chaos" and "Mayhem" visited. (Those are Martin's most recent pet names for our kids :o) Graisi was great. Alli Claire was Miss Daisy as usual except a little louder than normal. It may have had something to do with baby Kendall trying to sleep and AC wanting "MY baby Kendall" to wake up. I'm just guessing.

Sunday we all went to Cade's Cove. Since we all have kids now, we had to take separate cars, but we made it. The drive was gorgeous!! The trees were beautiful shades of gold, orange and red and the sun's rays streamed through as we drove. Towards the end, I drifted off for a quick nap. I just couldn't resist. Kendall got to sit in AC's seat turned around forward. She didn't know what to think about it, but she really seemed to enjoy the ride and scenery. AC was in my lap in the front while Graisi had her run of the cargo area in the back of the Tahoe. There were A LOT of deer. Martin and Kevin were able to get the girls really close to some of them (I'll post pics later). Kevin slammed Tonya's arm in the hatch of their Yukon but it didn't seem broken after all of the swelling went down :o) We had a good dinner and then went and looked at Christmas lights in Pigeon Forge. Alli Claire LOVED the choo-choo scenes and also called them "MY choo-choos". Do you see a theme here?

Monday morning Martin, Graisi and Kevin got up at crack-30 and went on a nature scavenger hunt in the woods. On there return the first thing Tonya and I heard about was the bear poop they saw and actually took a PICTURE of it! WHY? That's just all I'm going to ask... (I'll post this later too because I'm sure inquiring minds want to see it too)

Monday was also filled with go-cart riding, kiddie-ville and shopping. My favorite part was the shopping :o) I'm sure some of you are utterly shocked. Kevin and Tonya picked up the kids from the outlet mall and took them so Martin and I could have an anniversary dinner to ourselves. And it was nice to not have to cut up someone else's food, remind them to sit on their bottoms or beg them to eat their food. Afterwards, Martin took me (under duress) to shop for a pair of cowboy boots. I've wanted them for a very long time. This was one of my secrets I hadn't shared with him until then. Suspecting what his reaction would be to the cost and his actual reaction, one might could see why I hadn't shared this information with him :o) After making my/our purchase, I commented, "I got boots for our anniversary, and you haven't gotten anything yet." He replied, "I did. I got to buy you those stinkin' boots!" Can you feel the love after 13 blissfull years??

Did I mention all three nights, Alli Claire HAD to sleep between us??? Nothing says "Anniversary Get-A-Way" like a 2 year olds toes in your ribs all night :o) Or a swift kick to the shoulder....

Tuesday we came home. It was a long drive. I'd forgotten how long it takes to get there. I was home for 10 minutes before having to head back out for Bible study. So, our actual anniversary (Nov 11th) was spent go-cart riding AGAIN before we left, driving 6 hours home with two kids and Bible study. I was back home by 9pm just in time to iron clothes for work/school and get organized before the new day dawned.

An emergency room trip almost happened last night. Alli Claire tripped over something that hadn't been picked up from Gatlinburg. I know it was my fault, but I can only do so much! Immediatly, Graisi loudly said, "She's bleeding!" And she was. I'm not exactly sure how she busted her lip, but I think she could have used a stitch or at the very least glued back together. I tried to call Kerri (our resident nurse) who didn't answer. Next was the on-call nurse at the peds office. She said to call Childrens South. Except they don't "do" lips, which meant I would have to go to Childrens downtown. Then I called my sister who is an ER nurse. I made my brother-in-law wake her up :o) She made me feel much better and said I probably didn't need to go. Even if she did need a stitch they wouldn't do it after 3hours and we'd be in the waiting room at least that long. This meant we'd end up paying a $150 co-pay for them to tell us they couldn't do anything. We cleaned it up and let her fall asleep and I put some lanolin on it. It's my miracle ointment. Does anyone else hate that word as much as I do?... not sure why I used it but it's still better than the word "salve".) But it looked much better this morning. I think she's going to live. Graisi was very concerned about her last night and this morning. The first thing she asked when she woke up was if AC was ok. It was precious!

Jerusalem to Babylon: Exiled

That's the way I feel today. I do have hope and I am joyful in knowing that my God is sovereign and will work out everything for His good. I am not without hope and I refuse to be defeated. I will not be like the Exiles in Psalms 137. I will have joy and I will be thankful for all I have been blessed with. I have to.
